MARCIA GALLEHER. Traditional Hatha Yoga


 Marcia Galleher first stepped onto the yoga mat nearly 50 years ago. It was the initial experience of peace in savasana that led her to find out how to sustain it.  Marcia's intuitive instruction is rooted in Hatha Yoga. Classes are taught in a meditative style with postures flowing in a smooth sequence. They include aspects of yoga philosophy seamlessly weaved throughout. Marcia is an artist, a gardener, an astrologer and a pisces. She is co-owner of a jewelry business, Mobius Products & Services, blessed mother of David, Crystal and Jesse and One with John for over 40 years. 

JOHN BROWNING . Arise and Shine Yoga


 John Browning's yoga practice became a special part of his overall wellness as he counterbalanced a demanding military career.  Now retired and a certified yoga teacher, John is compelled to assist students find his/her improved physical and mental sense of well-being both on and off the mat.  In his classes, one can expect safe and effective sequencing of yoga poses with clear instruction.  Modifications and advanced options are made available so that new students and experienced yogis can find maximum benefit.  Along with his wife, Alma, and son, Lloyd, John thoroughly enjoys living in sunny Kehena and taking in all that is Puna.  

jaRed OWEN SAM . Substitute


 jaRed Owen Sam is a wisdom-seeking, certified yoga instructor, adventurer and lomi lomi massage therapist based in Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii. He loves sharing his yoga, favorite hidden spots along the Puna coast, organic tea/coffee, cooking new farm to table foods, his partner Dennis, his cat Oliver, films, beach culture and hosting guests at the Seaview Waterfarm.  and    

DINA SINGER . Vinyasa Yoga


 Dina Singer discovered yoga ten years ago as a freshman in college and became a certified yoga instructor in 2015 at CorePower Yoga Seattle. Her yoga classes consists of creative and balanced sequences that link breath with movement. Her goal is to create a sacred space for students to express themselves freely and connect to their highest potential. Dina loves listening to the sounds of nature, watching sunrises over the ocean, yummy foods and connecting to her lower Puna community!

KIMBERLY DARK. Restorative Yoga


 Kimberly Dark has been teaching hatha yoga since 1998 and offers Yoga is for Every Body retreats in Hawaii. She is also a writer, sociologist and storyteller. Her essays about yoga, body stigma and yoga's U.S. cultural context appear in Yoga International and other publications. She teaches in Loyola Marymount University's Yoga and Mindfulness Studies Certificate Program. Learn more at  

JUSTINE SHELTON . Yoga Therapy for a Healthy Body


   Justine Shelton came to Yoga for relief of physical pain and limitations after her collegiate athletic career. Determined to share with others the healing benefits she received from her Yoga practice, she specializes in therapeutic Yoga. Justine's gift lies in conveying in layman’s terms the healing powers of Yoga. She lives in Opihikao with her husband and two rescue dogs.  The hOMe Yoga studio originated during the Kilauea lava flow to satisfy the need for Yoga classes after the closure of Kalani Honua in May 2018.

VINYASA FLOW.   Monday   8:30 am  -  9:45 am    DINA

 Vinyasa means “to place/arrange in a special way.” Vinyasa Yoga is a diverse style of yoga with emphasis on connecting breath (pranayama) with movement (asana) in a mindful and rhythmic flow. There are various schools of yoga that are under the umbrella of vinyasa yoga including Ashtanga, Baptiste Yoga, Jivamukti, Power Yoga and Prana Flow. It is an invigorating and dynamic practice that integrates sun salutations, core stabilization and spinal strengthening sequences to energize the body, stabilize the mind and uplift the spirit.  


GENTLE KUNDALINI.  Tuesday   8:30 am  -  9:30 am  DENNIS

  Kundalini Yoga instructors teach from the tradition of Yogi Bhajan, introduced to America in the late 1960's. Kundalini applies specific mantras, breathing practices and meditation with bodily movements to release energy up the spine.  One of the benefits is a focused mind and Dennis believes that Kundalini Yoga is the quickest and most effective way to practice disciplining the mind. His gentle approach focuses on opening up the energy centers in the body with Kundalini exercises.    

YOGA THERAPY FOR  A HEALTHY  BODY .  Tuesday & Friday   10:15 am - 11:30 am   JUSTINE

 As a Viniyoga Therapist, Justine brings her in-depth knowledge and experience to people of all ages and physical abilities. This gentle Yoga Therapy class is tailored to the student's present condition, focusing on healthy movement patterns, body awareness and improving circulation to afflicted areas. Practitioners will learn valuable tools (posture sequences) to take their Health into their own hands, supporting one's self-care to live a Life with more ease and joy.   

ARISE & SHINE YOGA .  Wednesday     8:30 am  -  9:45 am   JOHN

  Awaken the body and re-focus the mind using traditional breath work, stretching and fundamental yoga poses.  This mid-week morning class is a great way to prepare and get energized for the day ahead.  Open to students of all levels, step by step verbal descriptions and demonstration encourage proper alignment and body awareness for maximum benefit and safety.  

CHAIR YOGA . Wednesday   10:15 am - 11:15 am  MARCIA

Chair Yoga is an excellent form of yoga for those limited in mobility and find it challenging to practice yoga poses on a mat, also suitable for new yoga students. Classes include the movement of postures, breathing techniques and meditation while seated or standing with a chair! Enhance flexibility, strength, muscle tone and improved breathing, Reduce stress and feel a sense of positive well-being.

TRADITIONAL HATHA YOGA .   Thursday   8:30 am  -  9:45 am    MARCIA

 Hatha Yoga is at the root of all the styles of contemporary yoga. Ha/Tha translates as Moon/Sun. It emphasizes Balance. Classes are  taught in a meditative style with postures flowing in a smooth sequence. Emphasis is on inner awareness with the focus on  breathing, chakras, hand mudras, currents of energy flow, and yogic philosophy for a full, balanced yoga experience.

 Practice in a comfortable environment accompanied by inspiring music. Open to students of all levels.

GENTLE YOGA . Saturday   8:30 am - 9:45 am  MAXWELL  (11/2 and  11/16. JaRed teaches 11/9)

 A slow paced practice that is great for beginners or long time practitioners to slow down and tune into the subtleties of the breath and body sensations. Accompanied by relaxing and inspiring music to help calm the nervous system and deepen our inner awareness. Each class is an intuitive blend of Restorative, Yin and Hatha  yoga practices inspired by the energy of the day and needs of the students.    


RESTORATIVE YOGA .  Saturday    8:30 am - 9:45 am   KIMBERLY  * (To resume  November 23rd)

 Restorative Yoga poses focus on calming the central nervous system and developing habits of breathing and relaxation to support everyday calm. All postures are done on the floor, using support (props are provided). Simple range of motion postures accompany breathing and relaxation techniques so that participants leave refreshed and energized.

Yana and Mike will be playing  guitar, handpan, Diviya, gong, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing pyramid, drums and chimes .
Everyone is welcome to bring their instruments. We all will be creating music of the flow! 

Yana is a professional musician, singer, choir conductor, vocal teacher and founder of vocal studio in Odessa Ukraine, She is an organizer of European Full Moon parties and Sound Diving sessions, member of Johnathan Goldman's sound healing association and lifelong student of sacred sound healing. 


It's a time when a new sun is born .

Solstice in Latin means Sol-the sun and sistere-to make stand. Winter Solstice is one the most powerful days of the year. The sun standing still is a powerful metaphor for the energy available to us at the Winter Solstice to change the direction of our lives with intention and build on this energy as we enter into the new year.
 Through the mantra chanting and sound meditation we'll honor and aknowledge the darkness and light, the endings and new beginnings in our lives, setting and intention for what we wish to manifest

Join us for an amazing sound experience. Resonate into Bliss with this eclectic mix of meditative sounds!  Experience the magic of Tibetan singing bowls, and float on the sound vibrations into a deeply meditative state.  Return to OM. Tune into the primal Earth frequency and float on waves of deep relaxation, healing for body, mind and spirit. 


Burn away what no longer serves you as we move into a new decade! Affirmations will be written on pieces of paper and burned in a bowl.

Bring along your yoga mat, blanket (some provided), cushions for head and under the knees, eye cover, socks, water, and anything else to make you feel comfortable. Please arrive a few minutes before we begin. This event is for ages 16 and up.
